Things to Do Near the Galveston Cruise Port

Arriving the day before your cruise, or have a few hours after you get off the ship? The Strand Historic District sits next to the Port of Galveston, and our shop at 519 25th Street is on the same street as Cruise Terminal 25 (2502 Harborside Drive).

A guided Segway tour is one of the easiest ways to see the island when time is short. Training is included, no experience is needed, and tours run from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Have 30 minutes to an hour?

The Segway Experience ($39, 30 minutes) is a quick training session and guided ride around the Strand. The Pirates Tale Tour ($60, 1 hour) covers Jean Lafitte and the Tall Ship Elissa near the harbor. The Seawall Cruise Tour ($59, 1 hour) is a relaxed ride along the Gulf, and the Turtles and Murals Tour ($60, 1 hour) is a public-art ride with a trivia game.

Have 2 hours? See the island’s whole story

The Magical History Tour ($75) takes you from the Railroad Museum and the port, where the story of the 1900 Storm begins, through the East End's Victorian mansions to the Seawall. The Rat Pack Tour ($79) covers the Free State era of casinos and nightclubs.

Before your cruise

If you arrive the day before, a morning tour is an easy way to get your bearings before exploring the Strand’s shops and restaurants. On embarkation day, choose a tour that ends well before your cruise line’s check-in time, and check your cruise documents for your terminal.

After your cruise

Not ready to head home yet? A 1-hour tour is a good way to stretch your legs and see more of Galveston before the drive back. If you will have luggage with you, call 409-692-6691 before booking so we can help you plan your visit.

Cruising with a group?

Family groups, wedding parties and friends traveling together can book a scheduled tour for the whole party or a private tour with their own guide. See our group activities page for options.
